RF Microneedling and PRP

RF Microneedling and PRP – short for platelet-rich plasma – are two innovative methods for restoring a youthful glow to the skin by harnessing the body’s hidden regenerative powers. Separately or together, these state-of-the-art treatments are examples of the latest and best in skin care.

RF Microneedling

On its own, microneedling uses extremely fine needles, as small as half a millimeter, to stimulate the body’s natural healing mechanisms to spur the production of new capillaries (tiny blood vessels) as well as collagen and elastin for plumper and more youthful skin. Radiofrequencies (RF) add additional power to the approach for more dramatic results. Scientific evidence,* as well as our own experience with this technique on many clients, shows this to be a safe and highly effective skin rejuvenation technique.

At Decoris Aesthetics we use VirtueRF, the originator of RF microneedling, to produce outcomes that delight clients in a safe, comfortable, and highly effective manner. The gold standard in RF microneedling can help tone the skin while safely and effectively treating the following common skin complaints:

  • Wrinkles
  • Fine lines
  • Cellulite
  • Acne scars
  • Hyperpigmentation
  • Stretch marks
  • Visibly large pores
  • Hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating)

How is VirtueRF Microneedling Different?

At Decoris Aesthetics we are convinced that the world’s first RF Microneedling platform is also its best. The VirtueRF system employs 36 gold-plated needles that stimulate the skin by creating all but imperceptible micro-injuries while adding radiofrequency-generated heat that stimulates without hurting tissue. The highly targeted heat further spurs the production of elastin and collagen, two proteins essential for remodeling the skin. The platform is also designed to be highly responsive, allowing our medical skin-care experts to vary the depth of the treatment on different areas of the face. This allows them to tailor treatments to a client’s specific needs.

VirtueRF special features include separate settings for producing collagen and killing bacteria as well as robotic technology that ensures evenness in the depth of the needles for a more comfortable and effective treatment.

What Happens in an RF Microneedling Treatment?

The process breaks down into four steps
Step 1

Once a client is settled into their spa chair, we apply a numbing cream to ensure that the treatment is comfortable. The cream will take roughly 25 minutes to take effect.

Step 2

The cream is removed and alcohol is applied to the skin to ensure it is clean and sterile before the procedure.

Step 3

The expert medical professional performing the treatment will enter information about the patient’s skin type into the VirtueRF device. They will then begin using different settings that penetrate more or less deeply into the skin. For example, the skin of the forehead tends to be significantly thinner than on other portions of the face so the needles will be set at a shallower setting.

Step 3

A dual microcurrent applicator using two masks is used. The first mask is impregnated with nutrients and anti-inflammatories to foster rapid healing. A second mask with microcurrents is then applied over the first mask. The microcurrents in the top mask will ensure that the beneficial substances in the mask beneath it are thoroughly applied to the face.

The treatment should usually be concluded in about 45 minutes.

Some clients may wish to combine this treatment with PRP (platelet-rich plasma). See below for more information.

After RF Microneeding Treatment

You may see some initial pinpoint bleeding, minor swelling, and redness. The swelling and redness may persist for about one or two days following the procedure but recovery should be very rapid. There is essentially no downtime.

You should start to see some results within about two weeks after treatment. To get the full impact, however, a total of two to five treatments, spaced about four to six weeks apart, will typically be necessary.

Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP)

Blood is vital to our existence but it remains mysterious in many ways and we are still learning about its properties. An enriched blood product called platelet-rich plasma, or PRP for short, contains growth factors and proteins that are another powerful means of helping the skin look younger and healthier. PRP at Decoris Aesthetics can be used on its own or in combination with RF Microneedling and other treatments.

Some PRP treatments have been given the imaginative but misleading and slightly gruesome name “vampire facials.” These treatments can certainly help you look a bit more ageless but the resemblance ends there. For starters, it’s your own blood, not someone else’s, and there’s nothing creepy about it. We promise that you’ll be able to check your outstanding results by seeing your reflection in a mirror afterward!

How Does PRP Work?

A small amount of the client’s blood is drawn and then placed inside a centrifuge which removes extraneous material and creates a more concentrated derivative of the client’s blood. The PRP is then added to the skin. It is typically applied to the facial area but it can also be applied elsewhere to foster more youthful skin in the skin of the neck, chest, and hands. Also, as mentioned above, it can be combined with RF microneedling to foster increased skin regeneration.

Are PRP Treatments Safe? What about Side Effects?

Since PRP is made from the client’s own blood, it is easily accepted by the body and completely safe when properly handled by an expert medical professional. As with other nonsurgical treatments, there is no downtime and only some short-lived immediate side effects associated with how the treatment is taken, such as redness.

PRP for Hair Restoration

Many of our clients report that PRP injections have helped to spur new hair growth. If you are concerned with either male pattern baldness or hair loss due to a health condition, including alopecia, ask one of our medical aesthetic experts for more details.
